Anyone have a strong opinion on a brand of windshield wipers to get or avoid?

I’ve found the OEM inserts, at least Subaru and Toyota, to be really f’n good . 20$ for the front set and last over a year for me. I can’t get any of the store brands to last half that at like twice the price.

I used to swear by Bosch Steeltech blades, then they quit making those and the replacements are so-so. That said, I look at it this way:
You can spend $14 on a pair of blades and change them every 8-10 months, or spend $30 on a pair of blades and change them every 12-14 months. I prefer the former.

Only opinion I have about windshield wipers is that I like the Rain-X infused beam blades I had on my outback.

I read that as “Windshield Whispers”

I drive a Sonata so I’m sure they’re plentiful at the junkyard but making a special trip to a junkyard , finding/pulling, and then still paying doesn’t seem worth it to me. If I was already at a junkyard then sure, but that’s not my life right now.

Thanks for the recommendation!

Pretty much. I don’t go for the cheapest ones out there, but Bosch ones
in the $7-10/blade range have done me well.

Last few cars I’ve done wipers on, I’ve used Bosch Clear Advantage. They are like $5-7 per blade at Rock Auto (though shipping isn’t always great) , seem to work well, and the universal mechanism seems well enough made, better than the RainX and Goodyear ones I used previously.

Right, I just stock up whenever I go to the junkyard. Three or four sets of decent ones is usually like ten bucks. Never made a trip specifically for wipers, that would be... weird

Just apply rain x. Live dangerously.

I have gone all over the board with wipers. OEM, Bosch, michelin, rainx, trico and others.
I just like the cheapest rainx or cheapest steel A arms.
I hate the hybrids and single beams. They don’t do shit in snow.

If you order off rockauto, you can grab a bunch to negate the shipping costs. I stick to the beam style, and have had good luck with the trico force blades, but my S8 I go exclusively with the OEM style valeo blades. They have a specific attachment arm and those blades hold up well. But the prices on rockauto are really good, but you’ll want to buy a couple sets or more to defray the shipping.

Also, the Bosch icon blades can replace the rubber very easily for less than $5 for a refill. I used to do that until rockautos prices came down so much.

Yea my only comment was going to be that I dont like the expensive RainX wipers I have now.
